Re-relation #06
Re-relation is a limited series of signed and numbered photographic prints intended as a pretext to reflect on the relationship between humans and the non-human world. We propose eight images and stories about closeness, devotion, boundaries and mutual dependencies.

The fate of the white-tailed eagle after reablement, which failed to return to its natural environment, is sealed — life in an aviary. Under the care of specialists, with full board, in fairly comfortable conditions — at least from a human perspective. Nevertheless behind bars, in captivity. We chose it as a symbol of Poland, we unite under its image, when it ceases to be independent we treat it, recreate natural conditions and we hide behind claims that for most of its life anyway it would sit, not fly. But when we look at the image of a lost, disadvantaged bird in a cage, disabled, apathetic, accepting its fate, it is impossible to forget that many of the birds’ injuries have been caused by humans – by our amenities, high-voltage power lines, wind turbines – traps we have set for them ourselves.
The photograph is part of the „How to Rejuvenate an Eagle” project appreciated by Aperture Foundation and Paris Photo in the Photo Book of the Year 2020 competition.
